Unity among Muslim states should be promoted: VP

TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (MNA) – Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi has said that the current situation in the world necessitates that unity among Muslim countries be promoted.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the United Arab Emirates’ Ambassador to Iran Saif Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi in Tehran on Monday.

Rahimi said that the current situation in the world has provided a good opportunity for the promotion of unity among Muslim countries.

The hegemonistic powers are in a quandary and are grasping at straws to extricate themselves from this situation, he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rahimi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized that relations between countries should be based on the principle of friendship, adding that the trade ties between Iran and the UAE are very good and efforts should be made to expand ties in other areas.

Iran sees no obstacle in the way of the expansion of relations and is fully prepared to enhance ties, he stated.

The UAE ambassador described Tehran-Abu Dhabi relationship as close and based on mutual respect and trust.

“As the UAE ambassador, I will make utmost efforts to strengthen the ties” which will benefit both nations, he said.

The ambassador added some hegemonistic powers are seeking to create discord between Iran and the UAE, however, despite the pressure, the ties have increased.
